Senior Instructional Designer/Curriculum Developer for Grants-Management Program

Resources Online is looking for a senior-level freelance instructional designer/curriculum developer to develop a learning program for Native American tribal professionals and executives who manage government and private grants. The course content—up to 40 hours of coursework—will be delivered wholly online via a learning management system (LMS) and subsequently in person.

Location: Remote
Duration: ASAP to October 9, 2020
Schedule: Approximately 30 hours per week
Pay rate: $68–$75/hour

Project description

This instructional designer will:

  • Work with our team and our client’s subject matter experts (SMEs) and key stakeholders to understand audience and learning-outcome objectives
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of how tribal governments identify, apply for, and manage grant funds from federal and tribal entities
  • Design 40 course-hours of learning activities that teach grant management from post-award through close-out periods, including grant-funding laws, regulations, and policies; understanding grant rules; and application of grant funds
  • Create engaging, high-caliber, multi-media course content for multiple learning styles then work with a creative team that will produce the audio, video, and multi-media portions of the content
  • Build assessments, including situational and scenario-based questions that contribute to the proficiency of learning
  • Participate in iterative creation and review process during all phases of curriculum development
  • Organize physical and digital resources for instructors and learners
  • Provide manuals and guidelines on how to use online training material and facilitate in-person teaching
  • Work with project stakeholders, LMS administrator, and business unit leadership to release/implement learning material
  • Manage schedules, risks, and issues pertaining to curriculum development project
  • Participate in team meetings by conference call
  • Provide regular status reports and meet other reporting needs, as required

Required qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interface with all levels within professional organizations (CEO, CIO, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of adult learning and development concepts (for example, adult learning theory, training design principles, media and delivery channel selection, skill assessments, learning evaluation)
  • Five or more years’ experience developing curricula for professionals/executives with proven ability to:
    • Create and facilitate online instruction
    • Write clear instructional and assessment copy
    • Develop responsive content integrated with assessment
    • Understand complicated regulatory and compliance information
  • Experience applying for grants (identifying source, writing and submitting application) and/or managing grant funds
  • Excellent writer and editor
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Grant writing experience
  • Advanced LMS skills
  • Ability to effectively teach online and in person
  • Excellent research and analysis capabilities
  • Strong project management skills

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in education in instructional design or development of learning materials
  • Experience using Basecamp project management tools
  • Experience using Canvas LMS
