Project profile:

Microsoft CSP development

Business challenge:

In late 2006, Microsoft.com introduced a new content management and publishing system—the Content Services Platform (CSP)—for Microsoft websites. Initially, CSP was designed to manage and publish the home page for Microsoft sites worldwide. But the scope expanded, and Resources Online was challenged to be the first team to roll out a set of full-scale product marketing websites using CSP.

Challenge met.

Because of our knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint technology and expertise in ASP.NET, XML/XSLT/schema, and Microsoft InfoPath form development, Microsoft chose Resources Online to pioneer use of the CSP platform for marketing sites. To meet the challenge, our development team produced the first set of authoring and rendering templates and a flexible and reusable component model. Over six months, we successfully produced 20 product marketing sites for the Server and Tools Online (STO) division.

Since CSP was introduced, Resources Online has been a trusted partner to implement and establish best practices for using CSP. Our component template library is growing, so we can easily share and transfer functionality from one CSP site to another. We have also actively participated in localization for many of the sites we manage.

Our team has worked on more than 30 CSP web projects, including:
